Tip of the Month: Creative Advertising Advice

In Advertising its very easy for a business to fall into the trap of being safe with the creative. You have to remember that in this climate, safe advertising is easily missed by your market. Now is the time to stand out from the crowd.

It’s quite true about the saying – There’s no second chance at making a good first impression. Advertisements online or offline, if they don’t catch your attention within seconds they are considered failed. Agencies and big corporations do not believe in ‘cool factors’ in advertisement anymore. Instead, to really stand out of the crowd, the idea has to be really out of the box, something that makes you laugh, talks about it or at least make you look twice.

By Grassads creating advertising messages and displaying them on grass, we are showing companies that there is a different way to get their message out to consumers in a positive and environmentally aware manner.

When people look at your advertisement they are most likely not focused on you.... that means too much information is not a good idea. People shouldn't have to stop and squint to read your message. Keep it simple. A good example is a large logo, one key phrase and a call to action.

DO:
• choose a bright background colour
• choose contrasting colour for text
• use strong bold font for text
• keep your message short and simple

DON’T:
• use fluro colours (they’re too harsh to read)
• use too many colours
(too many colours = illegibility)
• cram too much information into the ad
(adverts are used to direct customers to your premises or website,
it is not a brochure)
